Futsal players boost charity-Swindon Advertiser

TEAMS of futsal players fought out on the pitch, last week to raise funds for charity Barnado's underprivileged children.

New and experienced players participated in a charity tournament, five-a-side and raised about $ 400 on Sunday.

The 16 teams played from 2 pm until 6 hours when the Futsal 5 were crowned the winners in @ Futsal arena in Kembrey Park.

Dominic Virgilio, sales and marketing manager of @ Futsal, said: "it went very well. Barnado were really happy with the Organization of it all.

"My initial goal was around £ 500."Unfortunately we don't do that target but for 16 teams, which was the minimum target, was brilliant, he said.

Seven teams that had never before played futsal who joined in and all the teams played in World Cup names, which were chosen from a hat.

"A couple of teams did very well and surprised a couple of teams and everyone enjoyed it.

"This is not to win, it comes to participate.If they are new to they won't win instatly national futsal team, they have to develop your conditioning Futsal Cup because of the speed of the game and it gets very hot here, "he said.

There was also a barbecue, raffle and penalty challenge cup and crossbar challenge with a leaderboard, fundraising extras.

"In our leagues here is just a bunch of guys who are all friends and now participate," said Dominic.

Barnado's charity of Royal Mail chosen this year, who worked in partnership with @ Futsal to organize the day as part of believe in children feature.

A Barnado's spokesman said: "we are very pleased that Royal Mail Group and the community are supporting us in style with our first believe in children and resource that they are so committed, enthusiastic and positive fall behind us".
