Lee Poole: Sights set on success of ball round-weekly 6 Williamsburg

Futsal player WARRANWOOD Lee Poole can't wait to represent Victoria National Championships in Canberra on 14 January.

The 14-year-old tried his hand at a number of sports, but now aims to success with the ball round in indoor football and soccer, known as Futsal.

Front of the fleet-footed has shown some talent for inner game between teams of five (four players, a goalkeeper) against each other in a small footprint like a basketball.

Poole, who also plays in Bulleen, said he wanted to help win the title.

"Last time I played Victoria won it," he said. "Hopefully do it again ".

Futsal forwards can end up a little lonely sometimes with teams getting three defenses and a breakthrough, but Poole said that rarely felt alone, with teammates streaming front to help attack.

"Someone always pushes front help so that makes it easier," he said.

Poole survived a series of tests to be part of the Victorian team, although he played well during the tests.

He also thanked his coach Edgard Vatcky, which is also the Director of Victoria of the Football Federation of coaching.

"He helped me with my skills," he said. "In futsal you need to have very good skills because the game is played in small spaces. He has helped me a lot. "

Poole also is excited about a possible visit to Spain next year with the snakes, their side Futsal League of Melbourne.

The team is hoping to train and play against a Spanish team leader and watch some futsal professional teams in action.

Student to Norwood Secondary College, said that he eventually was aiming to represent Australia in futsal and also earn a contract playing in-League with his team, the Melbourne Victory.
